Pin-up of the Month – September 2018

Miss Alana Wilkie Artist

What do you most love about pin-up? I love the fashion. I never tire of the styles and designs from the era. Dress construction from the 40s and 50s was so much better quality, and the designs are absolutely timeless. Nothing is more exciting than finding a true vintage item that fits you perfectly and you can imagine what life it had with its previous owner.
Who is your pin-up role model? I’ve always loved Cherry Dollface. She is gorgeous and fun and doesn’t seem to take the whole thing too seriously. Other than that all my role models are from the pin-up era such as Vivien Leigh, Ginger Rogers, Rita Hayworth and Hedy Lamarr.
Where are your favourite places/websites to shop the style? I’ve found my best pieces from the big events such as Greazefest and Cooly Rocks on. Shopping the true vintage market stalls and finding that gem of a dress that fits you like a glove is the best! Op shops are also good but getting harder to find anything these days. As for reproduction Cherrybomb Vintage Couture is a very high quality beautiful designed label.
What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Red lipstick. I think I have ten or more shades which I bet isn’t much compared to some ladies. They’re all slightly different and I can’t resist getting more. Wearing red lipstick always makes me feel more glamorous!

Pin-up of the Month – August 2018

Miss Heidi Dolly

Retro Betty Pinup girl of the month vintage

What do you love most about pin-up? I love that the pin-up community is so welcoming to anyone who wishes to take part. It is great fun to dress in pin-up and go to events with other people who love the vintage look and lifestyle as much as I do.

Who is your pin-up role model? I watched my first documentary on Marilyn Monroe when I was about eleven and from that moment on I have been in awe of her beauty, talent and overall charisma. I also think Cherry Dollface is inspiring as not only is she so successful in the pin-up industry but she shares so many tips to help other pin-ups via workshops and You Tube tutorials.

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop the style? I love to browse through garage sales, op shops and car boot markets as that’s where I have found most of my favourite vintage items. I recently bought a gorgeous vintage-inspired evening gown from Lindy Bop which I adore.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Recently I  purchased a black velvet turban from Miz Smitten Kitten which I love as it’s so flattering and so easy to wear. I also wear my black cats eye sunglasses (from Pony Boy Vintage Clothing) nearly every day as they add a retro/vintage element to any outfit.

What do you love most about pinup? I love that modern pin-up is about breaking the rules to make your own unique style, it is a great way to feel good about yourself and we have a wonderful community of creative people I have been lucky enough to get the chance to meet and work with some of them, and they have been great friends.
Who is your pinup role model? There are so many strong women doing great things in pinup, but I would like to say Jenny Rieu is one of my key role models. She has a beautifully classic style, embraces diversity and has a hard work ethic which I truly admire.
Where are your favourite websites/places to shop the style? I like to try and support our small Australian business for my purchases as much as I can. I particularly love Lana Rose because the owner has done so much for the pin-up community through organising the Ballarat Beat Pinup Competition. Once More with Feeling Vintage and the Rosebud Vintage Bazaar for unique accessories. The A Plus Market run in Coburg (Melbourne) several times a year has a convivial atmosphere and I have also been lucky to purchase both pre-loved plus size repro pieces and vintage in plus size which can sometimes be difficult to find.
What is your favourite pinup product that you can’t live without? The product that I can’t live without is a good setting spray. I have unruly thick hair that holds a curl so the setting spray helps give it staying power. I like to use Suavecita and Lindy Charm School Brands.

What do you love most about pin-up? Pin-up to me is about embracing the vintage look, lifestyle, grace, glamour & simplicity of the by-gone era. It is also about accepting and supporting each other with no judgement on size, age or life choices. I have met so many lovely people along the way and made some great friends. I also love to show off my style with my vintage caravans at events.

Who is your pinup role model? I am inspired by so many girls in the pin-up community, they are all truly amazing and have their twist on the style they bring. I would also have to say I love and admire Victory Violet, but my picks for the grace and glamour would be Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe.

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop the style? Oh where do I start… I was born to shop and the internet has opened so many doors, from many of the Australian sites online as That Shop, Gwynnies Emporium, Lindy Bop to name a couple and Etsy for those accessories. I have always loved the markets, antiques and op-shops.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? I couldn’t live without my hair curler and hairspray. My makeup is a must also. While I need these, I have to say I love my brooches and bangles to finish my outfits.

Pin-up of the Month – January 2018

Miss Kitty Summers

Vintage pinup girl retro betty

What do you love most about pin-up? I was a straight up and down shape before having my beautiful little girls. After giving birth I had hips and boobs that I didn’t know how to style or dress. My husband suggested showing my new curves off rather than hiding them and that’s how I discovered pin-up. I absolutely love how wearing pin-up clothing makes me feel. I found confidence in clothing for the first time in years and I think I appreciate that the most. Give me a good pencil skirt and red lips any day!

Who is your pin-up role model? My pinup role model would have to be the amazing Sabina Kelley. She shows the classy side of being a tattooed pin-up.

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? I currently live in a tiny little coastal town with no real access to cool shops so I buy most of my clothing online. I love Bonsai Kitten Retro Clothing, from Melbourne, they’re clothes are super cute and affordable. I was also recently gifted a PUG clothing Monica Dress and it is fantastic. Great quality and super comfortable so you definitely get what you pay for.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My favourite thing to do on a rainy day is to wear bright red lipstick. I love my LimeCrime Red Velvet lipstick. It stays all day and is vegan & cruelty free.

What do you love most about pin up? I love how confident and beautiful women of all shapes and backgrounds look in pin-up. I’ve done some modelling in the past in different styles but I’ve never felt more comfortable or stunning than when I’m made up pin-up style. It celebrates women who are strong, classy and beautiful.

Who is your pin-up role model? You cannot go past Marilyn Monroe as the epitome of vintage style and grace. But I also adore 2007 Candyman era, Christina Aguilera.

What are your favourite websites/places to shop? I love going vintage shopping in op shops around town, a really good one is Retrostar vintage clothing. I also love the vintage inspired online store, Pretty Parcel, whom I model for. Their clothes are so cute, handmade and can custom make to any size.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? I love bow-tie headbands and a deep red lipstick. I also love anything with a fun vintage print, especially fruit or food.

Pin-up of the Month – November

Miss Tina Von Squeeze

Retro Betty vintage pinup girl

What do you love most about pin-up? I’m a creative gal that has always had a passion for all things vintage especially the looks of the 40’s and 50’s. I moved up to the Gold Coast coast from Sydney 16 years ago, where I rediscovered my love for the Kustom Kulture scene and I have never looked back.

After recovering from breast cancer a couple of years ago, I took up swing dancing, which has now become my happy place.  You’ll find me on a dance floor at least once a week! Apart from being a vintage Mum to four gorgeous boys, I also love to draw and paint in my spare time, and I work full time as a designer for a swimwear company.

Who is your pin-up role model? My biggest inspiration is my Mum, who was a burlesque performer in the 60s, and also my Great Grandmother who performed at the Tivoli. But I get my biggest buzz watching the other lovely gals in the pin-up community doing their thing. I recently entered my first pinup comp, at the age of 50, as you do!

What favourite pin-up item you can’t you live without? My first car was a 1959 Humber Vogue…and one day I hope to buy my very own 1960’s Karmann Ghia.

Pin-up of the Month – October

 The Snowflake Pinup

What do you love most about pin-up? The pin-up community is both open-minded and open-hearted. I love that you can put any vintage/pinup/retro twist on any outfit and you receive nothing but compliments. I also love how the pin-up lifestyle celebrates all shapes, sizes and cultural ethnicities. I am also intrigued by the different categories associated with pin-up, like rockabilly/psychobilly, vintage retro and those who restore vintage items to give them a new lease on life. There are so many avenues to travel and to grow from.

Who is your pin-up role model? It is hard to narrow it down to just one. I think we are sorely missing the stars of yesteryear… now we are only left with ‘celebrities’, but if I had to say my favourite… it would be Lucille Ball. That woman was amazing! Classy, smart, ridiculously funny and always elegant (even when she was pulling faces).

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop? I cannot go past Tatyana’s Boutique. I bought my first pin-up dress from the Vegas store (back when it was called Bettie Page’s boutique) many, many years ago. Whenever I travel the states, I always make a point of finding the nearest shopfront to see what is new. I also love Pinupgirl Clothing and Vixen by Micheline Pitt. These women understand how a dress should feel on the body – not restricting, but showing off what you got in a classy manner.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My eyeliner. It’s funny, seeing as I didn’t start wearing makeup until I was in my early 20s (I grew up as, and still am, quite the tomboy). But I love the feeling of fresh wings. Highlighting beautiful eyes that you already have and just giving you that extra bit of confidence to take on whatever the day has in store for you

Pin-up of the Month – September

Miss Kelly – The Flying Pinup

What do you love most about pin-up? I love the inclusiveness. In the pin-up community, everyone is welcome! There is so much variety in terms of personalities, style, hobbies and professions, and I feel like I am consistently learning more and more from the community. The pin-up community has so much to offer, even to those who don’t necessarily ‘live the life’.

Who is your pin-up role model? Although I am influenced by many beauties and Hollywood starlets, my main inspiration for what I do is Rosie the Riveter, and the thousands of working woman of WWII that the character ‘Rosie’ represents. I am also influenced by Amelia Earhart, who was the poster girl for women in aviation (she even had her own clothing line!)

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop? That Shop is my go-to store for all things pinup and vintage-inspired, as well as Cherry Bomb Vintage Couture. Both are Queensland, family-run businesses.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My hair curler, my red lipstick, and my trusty scarfs which allow me to fly AND keep my curls intact!

Pin-up of the Month – August

 LouLou Fontana

vintage pinup girl rockabilly

What do you love most about pin-up? Being a 1950s inspired pin-up in 2017 is the perfect combination of being an empowered woman with the fun, feminine spirit of a bygone era. It embraces the fashion, music and craftsmanship of products that were works of art and not just massed produced to fit a purpose. The sisterhood of other women who dress and live the pin-up lifestyle has also embraced me and I have made friends who I can turn to at anytime.

Who is your pin-up role model? Audrey Hepburn is not only my pin-up role model, but my ‘human-being role model’! She was a beauty, graceful sole, who gave so much to her fellow man. I am a proud member of Rotary who have many projects worldwide to raise funds and awareness for many worthy causes. Just like Audrey I hope to give back to those less fortunate. She is the essence of class and grace, yet is a a quirky and goofy personality.

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop? For genuine vintage I love to shop local. I’m very lucky to live in a region that is abundant in vintage/thrift store! My local vintage shop The’ Treasure Trade’ in Lismore has since become a newer and bigger shop called The ‘Bunnyhole’. The gorgeous girls have always taken care of me and I’ve found so many gems! I always try to support small businesses when buying vintage Etsy is my go-to for extra special gems. I like to be one of a kind and buying true vintage helps me to be original.

What is your favourite pin-up product you can’t live without? My Lindy Charm School for Girls ‘Essential Setting Spray’. All pin-ups want frizz-free curls. I love the silky smooth curls and the definition it gives me.

Pin-up of the Month – July

 Miss Hg Mercury

retro betty vintage pinup girl of the month
Nicole Laufer Photography

What do you love most about pin-up? I love that you can truly inject your own personality and individuality into the style. You learn how to appreciate and love your own body and rock what you have! The pin-up community is also so inclusive and supportive, I wish I found this style and community way earlier in my life!

Who is your pinup role model? To be honest, my Instagram feed is not saturated with iconic pin-up and vintage models but with my friends. I love seeing how each of my pin-up gals embrace the culture daily and seeing their happy faces every morning keeps me going.

Where are your favourite places/websites to shop? My wardrobe used to be filled with mainly Pinup Girl Clothing and Collectif, but lately I have started purchasing from Australian and local vintage inspired clothing brands such as Louella De Ville, Kitten D Amour, Cherry Bomb Vintage and Siren Clothing. I also love to make my own swing skirts using science and nerdy fabrics.

What is your favourite pin-up product you can’t live without? I can’t live without at least one headscarf. I love how it can transform a simple hairstyle like a pony tail or bun into a retro do. Plus it is also handy to cover up re-growth, which as a natural blonde, I rock a headscarf about 80% of the time!

What do you love most about pin-up? I have always had a love of vintage cars and older music growing up I never felt as though I belonged, having a disability you were always seen as different but when I discovered the world of pinup that all changed. Pinup gave me confidence in who I am, the culture is accepting of all shapes, sizes and abilities that’s what I truly love about it.

Who is your pin-up role model? Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn would be two of my role models. Each of these stunning women had Imperfections that they embraced, teaching me that you can have perfect imperfections. They tell stories of your struggles and striving forward highlighting your unique beauty .

Where are your favourite places/ websites to shop? I love supporting small businesses, shopping at handmade market stalls, online I use buy/swap/ sell pages. But you cannot beat a good op shopping day, you can find many vintage items from dresses, bags, accessories and more while supporting local charities.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? I cannot live without chiffon scarves, I love bright colours and they can enhance any outfit, whether it in a bow around your pony tail, like a bandana or around your neck the possibilities are endless. They are such a simple accessory and great for simple/ causal hairstyles. I own nearly all the colours of the rainbow and wear them almost every day.

What do you love most about pin-up? What I love most about pin-up is the people, the people you meet is life changing as you make life-long friendships and start calling your other fellow pinups you’re ‘Pin-up Family’. The clothing, cars and music is what I am drawn to about the 50’s era and the world of vintage glamour. Admiring yourself as you are is always difficult but overtime I have learnt to embrace the body I am in and to always love myself for who I am! And in the pin-up community everybody displays this by always being supportive of one another.

Who is your pin-up role model? Everyone I meet in the pin-up community are all my inspirations. But my top three picks would have to include Bettie Grable, Rita Hayworth and The Queen herself Marilyn Monroe. These three women express everything it is to be a pin-up while looking glamorous and staying classy at the same time.

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? Shopping is my life! I absolutely adore looking through op shops and vintage shops like Remember When, Cassie’s Corner, Dale Velvet Roses Pinup Dressing Room and plenty more as you can find such amazing treasures and hidden gems. Some of my favourite reproductive clothing items comes from Aussie brands such as That Shop, Aunty Charming’s Rockabilly Clothing and Hell Bunny just to name a few. Plus the classics such as Pin Up Girl Clothing, Collectif and the Pretty Dress Company. All of these companies provide a range of different sizes and plenty of variety to keep you on your toes.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My ultimate pinup essential would have to be my trusty Cedal Hairspray as it is my lifesaver for keeping those vintage styles behaved! I even carry a travel size in my handbag for those last minute touchups. And most definitely some red lippy to make my ensemble complete.

Pin-up of the Month – March

Miss Lulu Valentine

tiki pin-up vintage retro betty
Fab Photos, Port Macquarie. www.fabphotos.com.au

What do you love most about pin-up? Where do I start? I love that it suits EVERY BODY! You can be any shape or size and feel sexy wearing it. I have never felt more good about what I wear since I started dressing in pin-up, whether I’m wearing a traditional 1950s dress or rocking my capris!
For me pin-up is no longer just about what I wear but a big part of my life. It has given me so much confidence, enough to return to performing on stage after ten years and it makes me so happy when girls approach me wanting to start dressing this way as I love seeing them feel good too! I also love that I have made many lifelong likeminded friends since I started pin-up.

Who is your pin-up role model? There are too many to list! I have met so many beautiful pin-ups, and follow many on social media – I feel as though I am constantly learning and improving my pin-up style as I attend more events and meet more pinups!
Traditional pin-ups I love depend on how I dress depending on my mood or occasion that day – Jayne Mansfield, Sophia Loren, Lucille Ball and Audrey Hepburn are just a few I love…my grandmothers were also renowned for their beautiful style so I do enjoy looking at old photos when I can!

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? We are lucky to have so many great rockabilly and pin-up style shops in Australia – I shop from many! I love Your One Stop Pinup Shop, Gwynnies, Pretty In Pinup, That Shop…I love sourcing traditional vintage pieces from Etsy and my local op shops when I can.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? I cannot wear makeup without a brightly coloured lip! My choice of colour is red of course (Besame Victory Red) however depending on what I am wearing that day I will rock a bright pink every now and then.

Pin-up of the Month – February

Rose D’Luxe

retro betty pin up of the month

What do you love most about pin-up? The moment I roll on my stockings, wiggle into my dress and attach a hairpiece to my beehived hair, I feel transformed into the best version of me. That’s what I love about pin-up! It has allowed me to explore self love in a way I never thought possible. Being a part of the pinup culture has opened a lot of doors for me, on a professional and personal level. I’ve established myself as a pin-up, Rose D’Luxe, and I’ve been so lucky to meet many pin-up beauties (locally and internationally), some who I now call my friends.

Who is your pin-up role model?  To single out one role model is impossible, just ask any pin-up! However, I have always loved Jane Russell, the sassiest, brunette glamour doll who just exudes so much personality in my eyes! My first role model however, is one of my best friends, Emma Binns. She embraced my love for glamour and guided me with her hints, tips, tricks and advice on pin-up lifestyle and I’ll forever be grateful for that.

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? I am a sucker for op-shopping, little markets and odd antique shops here on the Northern Rivers and Southern Gold Coast. For some reason, we have access to some amazing original mid-century clothiers, which is not always great for my back pocket, but deeply comforting knowing that original pieces are lasting the decades.

For all my repro clothing binges, I shop at That Shop in Coolangatta and Robina, Review and Gwynnies (Australian retailer – online) mostly.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Hair is BIG in your pinup look, both physically and aesthetically! I cannot live without Suavecita Pomade… you need just the smallest amount to create a pristine and rounded hairstyle! I use it on my curls, rolls, straight hair, Bettie Bangs and just about anything else. It’s a versatile product, that’s for sure!

What do you love most about pin-up? The thing I love most about pin-up is the opportunity to let my inner “goddess” shine by wearing beautiful clothes and doing my hair and makeup every day. I have also met the most wonderful people who will be life long friends.

Who is your pin-up role model?  Lucille Ball, who could be funny and glamorous all at once and all the Gil Elvrgen girls are my role models, I love the cheesecake style of pin up which these girls epitomise. My modern day role model would have to be Catalina McCaw she is always on point, her performances are amazing and she is also a wonderful woman.

Where are your favorite places/websites to shop? I love the Rosebud Vintage Bazaar where you can get all the repro as well as some incredible true vintage pieces. Pin Up Girl clothing would have to be my favourite website for shopping.

What is your favorite pin-up product I can’t live without? I would have to say my liquid eyeliner especially the Maybelline one and my lashes from Red Cherry. Also my Jeffree Star lipstick is pretty much a staple too.

What do you love most about pin-up? What I love most about pin-up is that we can bring some old world glamour to today but you can also add a modern twist with tattoos or bright hair. I love that pin-up encourages women to embrace their shape and there are so many different styles of clothing that suits everyone. For me, dressing pinup makes me feel comfortable in myself while also having a bit of glamour. I admire the effort that woman put into their hair and style in the 1940s and 50s and I love that we haven’t let it fade out.

Who is your pin-up role model? I don’t really have one person in particle that I admire as a role model! There are so many babes out there! I love the vampiness of Micheline Pitt, I love the classic style of Rita Hayworth and I love the fruitiness of Carmen Miranda. I love bits and pieces of so many different pinups and depending what mood I am in is how I will dress!

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? I like to support small business mainly but I do also love Pinup Girl Clothing, they always have amazing quality and it’s where I first started shopping. I do really like sourcing independent dress maker’s too because you always get something unique. I find most of my reproduction and vintage clothing on Etsy.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Definitely Kat Von D tattoo liner (doesn’t budge at all!) and hairspray is an essential to hold my Bettie Bangs in place!

What do you love most about pin-up? Since getting involved in the pin-up scene, I have been given opportunities to meet some amazing women who are inspirational to me, photographers whose work I admire and people who own some of the most beautiful cars I have ever laid eyes on!

Most of all, I have found a place where I can be confident in my own skin and the way I look. I have learnt to embrace a body shape that I have always battled with and learnt to love, embrace and flaunt my curves. It is absolutely amazing how wearing clothes that were made for your body shape can light a fire inside you and unleash confidence that you never knew you were capable of.

It’s been life-changing to say the least and if anything, I hope that I can inspire future pin-ups. If a girl can look at a photo of me and think “well if she can do it, than so can I”, that would mean that I have made a positive influence on someone and given them inspiration and encouragement.

Who is your pin-up role model? Hands down, Miss Victory Violet. She is one of the first pinups I stared following on social media a few years ago and I was lucky enough to meet her at Viva Las Vegas in 2015; I’m not going to lie, I had a total fan girl moment!

www.missvictoryviolet.com is one of my favourite websites! If you haven’t gone and looked her blog, do yourself a favour and check it out! She is one dedicated women when it comes to providing information to the international pinup community; body confidence, OOTD (Outfit Of The Day), pin-up life hacks, hair and beauty, and so much more!

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? Those who know me well know that most of my wardrobe is from Tatyana Boutique (USA). I tried on my first ever Tatyana dress in their Las Vegas boutique and I felt a million bucks, so naturally I fell in love. I would have to say that Collectif (UK) would be a close second, I own some of their gowns and they are some of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

What I love most about these pin-up brands is that you shop to your measurements; this allows me to “buy in bulk” from time to time and get dresses that I know are going to fit and flatter me!

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My foam rollers! Some girls rely on curling wands, others use hot rollers but for me, I get the best curls from setting my hair with foam rollers.

Pin-up of the Month Q&A with Bettie Butcher

What do you love most about Halloween and how to you ‘celebrate’ it? What I love most about halloween is how Australia is starting to embrace it more, it’s a great chance to dress up and have some fun for all ages.  It’s a way for me to combine by love of classic horror and cosplay.  I have been a huge fan of horror since I was young and my grandparents would let me pick any movies I wanted from the video store, you bet it was always classic horror. I have been into cosplay for about 11 years when i first attended comic conventions.

What do you love most about pin-up? What I love most about pin-up is that it bring back the nostalgia of an era where it was all about glamour.  I love the revival in Australia brings with it greater accessibility to vintage styled clothing, accessories, and events.  It’s a style I think everyone should try out because I truly believe it suits everyone and you get to meet like-minded enthusiasts and make life long friends.

Who is your pin-up role model? I was first exposed to pin-up by a Victorian photographer Paula Delley, who was the first photographer to revive the pin-up style back in 2008.  I travelled interstate trip to Melbourne for a hair and makeup workshop with Paula and the incredible ‘Sarah Lea Cheesecake’.  These amazing women were so welcoming and eager to pass on the tip and tricks to creating pin-up styles easily, so they were my first pin-up role models.

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? I love to buy from Etsy as you are supporting handmade and getting unique styles that you wouldn’t find locally.  Some local designers i love are Powderpuff Boutique (Aus), Peta Pledger (Aus), Mamar Dynamite (Aus), Violets in May (Uk), Deluxe Creations jewellery (Aus).

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Probably my very own setting spray ‘Perfect Pink’ which is available in the vintage styling classes I teach with the Bombshell Academy.  It’s the only way that my hair will stay curled for perfect vintage styles. See more about Bettie’s classes.

Pin-up of the Month – September

Lucy Luxe

Pin-up of the Month Q&A with Lucy Luxe

What do you love most about pin-up? I have met some truly inspirational, kick-arse and fierce women through my involvement with all things pin-up. Women conquering fears, smashing goals and just being all round awesome. That’s easily the best thing about pin-up for me personally!

I also love the fashion: Styles that compliment all figures and encourage women to see their beauty, feel sexy and love themselves!

Who is your pin-up role model? I’ve always admired Micheline Pitt after reading an article she wrote about “How to be a Pin-up Model”.

This eye opening article saw Micheline honestly address many assumptions about pin-up modelling, breaking down the smoke and mirrors and revealing a truthful account of all of the hard work, time and money involved. She spoke of how she worked her butt off career-wise and that pin-up was more for pleasure and love as opposed to financial gain.

I’m all for down to earth and genuine human beings and this article immediately left me inspired! The fact Micheline was a real, raw person made her more relatable. That, and she is a total babe to boot!

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? Much to my wallet’s dismay, I’m a huge fan of the Australian made label Wheels and Dollbaby.

Every piece I have purchased from W&DB makes me feel a million dollars and I’m slightly embarrassed to admit how many Dita cardigans I own… I think I have an addiction!

I also love trawling op shops and eBay looking for a good second hand bargain and wondering about the stories behind those beautiful vintage finds!

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? Lashes complete me! I don’t feel ready to leave the house if I’m not donning a set so big I can barely see out from underneath them.

What do you love most about pin-up? I love the pin-up community as they have helped me to heal and grow, I have made some great friends.

Who is your pin-up role model? Bettie Page

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? Well if I gave all of these away then I wouldn’t be able to find the vintage I do.  joking aside I love op shopping, that is where you can find the best vintage. I do also love That Shop and the WAC (Woolloongabba Antique Centre in Brisbane).

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My vintage I love it and live and breath it.

Pin-up of the Month Q&A with Madame Mason

What do you love most about pin-up? What I love most about pin-up is the opportunity to express yourself, hang around with like-minded people who share the same love for pin-up and of course the cars! How often do you get to hang out in some of the most gorgeous vintage cars of the century!

Who is your pin-up role model? My pin-up role model is Rockwell DeVil, not only is she a very talented hair and makeup artist, she is a really down to earth girl who loves coffee just as much as I do!

Where are your favourite places/website to shop? Living on the Gold Coast I love to shop at That Shop at Coolangatta. The girls are always accommodating and they stock the best brands.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without? My favourite pin-up product I can’t live without would have to be setting lotion from the Lindy Charm School for Girls. It is the only setting lotion that holds my curls.

Pin-up of the Month – June

Madam Midnight

Pin-up of the Month Q&A with Madam Midnight

What do you love most about pin-up?
I love what it can represent. You can be strong, sexy, cute and sweet all in one dress or outfit. I love meeting all the other girls that are into this style too because you instantly have a connection and a similarity with them.

Who is your pin-up role model?
My pin-up role model would have to be Jane Russell. She was absolutely stunning and everything about her was perfect, I also have a modern day role model that I love – Micheline Pitt. She oozes talent, from the clothing she designs to the makeup and hair she creates on other women, plus her 1962 Cadillac “Elvira” is to die for.

Where are your favourite places/website to shop?
I don’t live near any specialty shops for this style so I look at everything online, I mostly buy from Gwynnies, eBay, Hola Chica Boutique and also constantly looking at Louella DeVille/Your One Stop Pinup Shop website. I also love the Hell Bunny brand so I have a fair bit of their clothing, I’m a sucker for any pants/skirts/shorts that are high waisted so wherever I can find them I normally snap them up.

What favourite pin-up product can’t you live without?
Suavecita Pomade because it tames all of my fly-aways, I also love any sort of volume powder for the hair because who doesn’t love big hair . I also cannot live without my eyeliner or lashes, they completely change the whole look.
